🧩 1. Field of View (FOV)

Formula:

FOV=Sensor Size×DistanceFocal Length
  • Sensor Size: width of the camera sensor (mm).

  • Distance: distance from camera to target (m).

  • Focal Length: lens focal length (mm).

Example: Sensor size = 6 mm, focal length = 12 mm, distance = 10 m.

FOV=6×1012=5m

→ The camera covers 5 m width at 10 m distance.

🔧 2. Resolution Requirement

Formula:

Pixels per Meter(PPM)=Horizontal ResolutionScene Width

Guidelines:

  • Recognition: ≥ 125 PPM

  • Identification: ≥ 250 PPM

Example: Camera resolution = 1920 pixels, scene width = 8 m.

PPM=19208=240

→ Suitable for identification.

📊 3. Storage Calculation

Formula:

Storage=Bitrate×Time×Number of Cameras

Example: Bitrate = 4 Mbps, time = 24 hrs, cameras = 10.

Storage=4×3600×24×10=3.45TB/day

🏗️ 4. Bandwidth Requirement

Formula:

Bandwidth=Bitrate×Number of Cameras

Example: Bitrate = 2 Mbps, cameras = 20.

Bandwidth=2×20=40Mbps

→ Network must support at least 40 Mbps.

🧪 5. Illumination Requirement

Formula:

Lux=LumensArea

Example: Lamp output = 2000 lumens, area = 20 m².
